Cheung Chau Da Jiu Festival/ Cheung Chau Bun Festival

 

Cheung Chau Bun Festival is a distinct festival in Cheung Chau. It is from 5/4 to 9/4 in the lunar calendar. Local residents celebrate to thank Cheung Chau’s gods bless and protect them in the former years. Many activities are prepared in that five days, so it attracts many tourists to join in the fun every year. Parade of floats and bun tower scrambling competition are the major events. For parade, children wear costumes of ancient characters, then they stand on a support to cruise. Bun tower scrambling competition conducts at midnight, competitors need to grab buns within a period of time. There is a rumor that people who can grab buns from the bun tower will be lucky in the coming year.
